Our Favourite Cornish Coastal Path Walks With Swims
One of our favourite parts of summer is grabbing our hiking boots and swimsuits and hitting the Cornish coast path. Combining a gorgeous sea swim in a quiet and secret cove with a stomp along the south west coast path in the sunshine is the perfect day out. So here are our favourite Cornish coastal path walks with swims...
Lamorna Cove to Penberth, 4.1 miles
This gorgeous walk takes you past three quiet coves for swimming, a lighthouse and through cool, shady woods - the perfect place to stop for a picnic on a hot day. Both Lamorna & Penberth Coves are great for snorkelling so pack a mask and discover a different world underwater. If you fancy a café at the end of your walk then just reverse it so you end in Lamorna Cove!
Portreath to Chapel Porth, 5.2 miles
Starting just down the road from our shop at Portreath Beach, this is a walk we do a lot after work and at weekends as it's our local! Climbing up and out of Portreath will take you along the cliffs and down into Porthtowan where there is a great beach, sea cliff pool and plenty of places to grab a drink or some lunch. Then up and over again (or if the tide allows and you are careful you can walk along the beach) to the beautiful beach at Chapel Porth. With the picture perfect engine house of Wheal Coates above you on the cliff, plenty of golden sand (at low tide) and the famous Chapel Porth Beach Cafe, you are all set. Don't forget to call in and say hi if you're passing!
Marazion to Praa Sands, 6.3 miles
As you'll be going through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty you know you're onto a good thing here! With views across Mount's Bay and St Michael's Mount at the start and meandering past plenty of swimming spots and ending at the long sandy stretch of Praa Sands, this is a great summer walk. Take your pick of wild swimming spots at Prussia Cove, Perranuthnoe, Kenneggy Cove or Praa.
Polruan to Polperro, 7.1 miles
This is a rollercoaster of a walk, but it is well worth the effort! Plus you'll have plenty of spots for a quiet, refreshing dip and you can end at the pub in Polperro to toast your achievement! Park up in Polruan Hill car park and follow the coast path with fantastic views right up and down the coast. You'll soon come across the stunning Lantic Bay beach, then further along you can also swim at Lansallos Beach and Parsons Cove. When you arrive in the quaint harbour town of Polperro you've certainly earnt a pint and some fish and chips.
