What's On In Cornwall This Summer
Summer in Cornwall is the highlight of the year for us. From sunny beach days to sea swims, evening harbourside strolls and sea view picnics. But on top of all that we also get a few months jam packed with festivals and events. Here's the best of what's on in Cornwall this summer...
Golowan Festival, 17th - 26th June
A week long festival in Penzance to celebrate midsummer. It's full of art, music, theatre, parades, dancing, fireworks and street entertainment. Lots of local craft and food stalls to browse and plenty of yummy treats and drinks on sale to keep the party going.
Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival, 17th - 19th June
The most Cornish and seafaring of all festivals! Falmouth has a long history as a first safe port of call for deepwater sailing ships. It was here that sailors filled waterside alehouses with their songs and those shanties and stories are kept alive to this day. There will be pop-up bars and music stages throughout the town, bringing shanty groups from across the UK and beyond together in a celebration of all things nautical.
Stithians Show, 11th July
Lustyglaze Sundowner Sessions, 22nd & 23rd July
Fusing the raw power and soul of a 30-piece orchestra with the heavy bass and beats of a DJ, party-goers can expect to hear a mixture of pit string sections against scratch skills and double bass against synth bass, creating classic Ibiza party tracks like they’ve never heard before. Conducted by Miles Hancock, this will be an unforgettable night of nostalgic dance music and partying on the sand!
They will be followed by the Symphony by the Sea with a full 40 piece orchestra. This will be a truly unmissable evening of breathtaking classical music and popular film scores, performed live at the beach by the brilliant Cornish Sinfonia Orchestra.
Falmouth Week, 5th - 14th August
A major sailing regatta but also so much more! There will be boat races, live music, party nights, markets, an RNLI fun day, fireworks, crafts, the Red Arrows - definitely something for everyone.
Fowey Regatta & Carnival Week, 14th - 20th August
The regatta is one of the UK’s most famous sailing events. There’s a full programme of races, including the famous Troys, a class of sailing boat built only in Fowey. As well as the regatta there will be traditional favourites like the Carnival procession, Giant Pasty ceremony, Flora Dance, classic car rally, fireworks displays, crab-catching competition, swimming races, pasty-eating competition - and of course Fowey Town Band.
