October half term is nearly here and the weather forecast is looking pretty good! There is plenty going on in Cornwall for the half term holiday, from indoor fun for rainy days to outdoor adventures for those perfect sunny afternoons. We picked the best of what's on in Cornwall this October half term 2025...
Deer Safari, 25th & 29th October
A fascinating wildlife adventure at Boconnoc Estate. Hop on board the tractor-trailer with the Deer Ranger who will lead you on a safari through beautiful grounds to the ancient Deer Park, where you’ll have the opportunity to observe these graceful creatures in action.
Halloween Creativity, 25th October
Head to Morrab Library in Penzance for this family workshop designed to encourage imagination, self-expression, and Halloween fun. You can try painting ceramic pumpkins to take home and enjoy. Plus, every child will receive a set of free pens to keep the creativity flowing long after the workshop. Creatives of all ages are also invited to design their own t-shirt, with autumn and Halloween stencils available for a festive touch.
All Hallows Tide at Trelissick, 25th October - 2nd November
An immersive journey for all the family through the magic and myths of Cornwall along the winding paths of Trelissick garden. All Hallows Tide is a celebration of Cornish folklore, creativity and our natural surroundings as we welcome in Kalan Gwav, the first days of winter. You can also try your hand at wand and mask making, so you can take the magic and myths home.
Zip Wire Safari, daily
In old quarries near Penryn you can fly through the air with Via Ferrata Cornwall. Get to grips with zip-lining in the practice zone and build up courage to take on larger zip wires. You’ll also get to traverse across the cliff edge to get from one zip wire to the next, adding to the excitement. The zip wires are dual, so you’ll have the fun of launching off the platforms and soaring round with a friend!
The Dark Folklore Festival, 26th October
This one is just up the road from us so the perfect excuse to pop by our shop for a browse as well! An immersive journey into Cornwall’s rich, shadowed past, bringing together artists, storytellers, scholars, and enthusiasts to celebrate the region’s dark legends and mythic heritage. The festival features opening and closing rituals, exclusive sessions with masters of folklore and dark literature, live music and droll telling, a folklore parade, and an artist marketplace. The festival will also include activities and content designed for younger folklore enthusiasts. Children can enjoy dragon and giant drawing classes, explore giant play things, dress up in costumes, and feast on yummy food.
Sunday Kids Club, 26th October
A creative morning at St Ives School of Art for children aged 7-10. In this workshop you’ll create imaginative, original works on paper inspired by St Ives – land, sea & town. Using a combination of photographic imagery, vibrant inks and other mediums, you’ll explore ways to apply and experiment with materials. You’ll also consider colour combinations and shape to create strong compositions. Ellie will help you discover how to bring energy and texture to your artwork through layering and mark making.
Creepy Crawly Zoolab Animal Workshop, 29th October
Experience a unique, hands-on workshop at Trebah Garden that aims to educate and inspire. Zoolab workshops bring nature to you! Get up close with the animal team, and meet the likes of Giant African Snails, Snakes, Tarantulas and a whole host of Minibeasts. During the session, you will have the chance to learn all about these fascinating creatures and the part they play on our planet. Families have the chance to see a 45 – 60 minute show, meet 5-7 exotic animals close up and have the chance to handle 3-4 of these.
Young Potter's Throwing, 30th October
A two hour workshop for ages 7+ at The Leach Pottery in St Ives where you can find out how potters throw on a wheel and try for yourself. Watch how they use a potter’s wheel as they talk through the process step by step and then have a try yourself.
Fireworks Spectacular, 31st October & 1st November
The historic 19th Century Engine House at Lappa Valley is brought alive by the Kernow Fireworks Company with a dazzling display of rockets, fountains, candles and more! The Engine Shed indoor soft play area will be open for children to let off steam and you’ll be able to enjoy a ride on the Lakeside Railway too prior to the show starting at around 7.30.
Sun, Stars & Planets, 1st November
The experts from Kernow Astronomers are returning to Carnewas at Bedruthan. Arrive at Carnewas before sunset for a chance to look at the sun safely through telescopes before it sets, then take a closer look at the moon, stars and planets as they come into view.
Be prepared for October half term adventures in Cornwall with our collection of coats, hats and scarves. Pack all the kids essentials in a backpack and make sure you've got some comfy boots.
