Top Ways To Make The Most Of Your 5-9
With the lighter spring evenings and the (slightly!) warmer temperatures, the boring winter nights are over and about to be replaced with much more fun! We spend enough time at work, plodding through the 9-5. Don't wait for the weekends, fill your after work time with mini adventures and joy. Here's our top ways to make the most of your 5-9...
Create A Ritual
First we need to stop any work stress carrying over into your precious free time. A great way to do this is to create a ritual - just 10 minutes that help you decompress, close your working day and transition into your personal time. This could be as simple as a 10 minute day debrief with your partner, a quite moment sat in the garden, a quick shower and changing out of your work clothes or crafting your favourite cocktail or cuppa.
Outdoor Wellness
A total treat after a long, stressful work day. Sauna culture has really taken off in Cornwall in the last few years and there are some outdoor saunas with incredible views around our coast. Combined with a cold plunge in the sea, you'll feel good as new and ready for the next day. Try Kiln, Soul Sweats, Olla Hiki, Rising Embers or Escape To The Sauna.
Watch The Sunset
Who doesn't love watching the sunset? But let's be honest, how many a year do you actually sit and watch? Not many is it sadly. So every now and again just take a moment to find a peaceful spot, watch the sky change colours and take a moment of gratitude for those small moments of joy from that day.
Beach Walks
We're so lucky in Cornwall to be spoilt rotten for choice of beaches. This is the perfect time of year to take an evening stroll on the beach, before the madness of the summer holidays hits. Pick the right beach and you'll often have the place to yourself. Take a barefoot stroll in the sand to ground yourself after a long day and be brave and dip those toes in the sea to refresh!
Swap Dinner For A Picnic
Dinner is a standard part of everyone's evening, so let's elevate it by heading outside! Pack up your evening meal in some tuppaware and head to your favourite local spot - it might even just be your garden! Dinner with a view is the best end to the day. The universal rule is that everything tastes better outside too, so it's win win!
Try Something New
Those extra hours after work are a great time to try a new hobby without committing those long awaited weekends to it. From knitting to paddleboarding, bird watching, surfing, photography or learning to cook a new recipe. If you try a hobby for just 1 hour a day after work, that's over 250 hours in a year - you'll definitely have some new skills after that!
