What's On In Cornwall Christmas 2024

Escape the winter gloom and get some festive cheer with all the fantastic Christmas events happening in Cornwall this December! From candlelit carols to spooky tales and Cathedral choirs to ancient pagan festivals - we've put together our list of what's on in Cornwall Christmas 2024...

10th December - Carols In The Courtyard at Pentille Castle

Sing your hearts out, tap your feet and enjoy a wonderful festive evening at the beautiful Pentille Castle. The Cargreen Choir will be leading the songs and there will also be delicious winter refreshments available to purchase including mulled wine, hot chocolate, and mince pies to keep you warm.

11th December - Hauntings at The Acorn, Penzance

Everyone loves a spooky tale at Christmas and The Acorn have that wrapped up for you! A spellbinding evening of three tales of the supernatural, during which the award-winning actor, Gerard Logan, will take you to the world of invisible but terrifyingly present spirits.

13th December - Godolphin Lantern Parade

A magical night starting at 5.15pm under the arches of Godolphin House. Starting with carols, madrigals and morris dancing, the lantern parade will then follow ancient footpaths to the Old Chapel in Godolphin Cross where there will be food, drink and more merriment.

14th December - Boconnoc Christmas

A day of festive fun for the whole family. The incredible Boconnoc House will be beautifully decorated, with roaring fires to set the scene. Come and join in the festive spirit and get your bells-a-jingling! There will be so much going on from a Christmas market to candle making workshops, gingerbread decorating, festive tractor rides, fireside story time and more.

14th December - Truro Cathedral Choir, Rejoice & Be Merry

Truro Cathedral's celebrated choir presents a spectacular selection of festive music to get you into the Christmas spirit. With favourite carols including O Come All Ye Faithful and In The Bleak Midwinter, the programme spans everything from the 15th-century to present-day classics. Set in the inspiring surroundings of Truro Cathedral with the sounds of the Cornish choristers soaring around, this varied concert is guaranteed to give you some Christmas cheer!

15th December - Stories With Santa at Trebah

Nestled in the garden, Santa needs help tracking down his mischievous team of elves. There will be a chance to write a letter to Santa and post it straight to the North Pole, before stepping into the magical log cabin for a storytelling experience.

18th December - Candlelit Carols

Make a date in your Yuletide diary for a magical evening at Boconnoc House this Christmas.  The halls will be decked with ‘boughs of holly’, glowing with candlelight and warmed by open fires. Come in from the cold and enjoy seasonal refreshments in the Drawing Room before moving into the Garden Room for a candlelit concert of classic carols performed by the talented Cornish choir Canoryon Lowen.   

19th December - St Ives Artisan Market

Browse among the stalls of the talented local creators, artists, and craftspeople. You will find everything from plants, to silver jewellery to handmade soap, painted clocks, hand turned wooden bowls and ceramics. Accessible to all, free entry, dogs on leads welcome.

20th December - Christmas Afternoon Tea at St Michael's Mount

Set against the enchanting backdrop of St Michael’s Mount, Head Chef Greg Milne has crafted a winter menu using locally produced ingredients and flavours, some grown on the island itself. Wander through the cobbled village, visit the Steward’s House art gallery and take time to explore the island’s shops, offering exclusive gifts from local artists and designers.

21st December - Christmas Wassail at Cotehele

Come and join in with an ancient tradition. The annual Wassail makes lots of noise to scare away the evil spirits from the orchard to ensure a bumper crop next year. Noisy and plenty of fun!

21st December - Montol Festival

Head to Penzance for the festival of ancient Cornish traditions and customs held on the winter solstice to celebrate the return of the light. From 2pm there will be fire performers, Obby Osses, guise beasts, musicians, carol singers, choirs and dancers. As the day gets later the darkness deepens and a flaming torch lit procession marches through the streets.

23rd December - The Mousehole Cat

Join local shanty singers Falmouth Shout for a Tom Bawcock’s Eve performance of The Mousehole Cat outside in the tipi at the stunning National Trust property, Trelissick House near Truro.
