Our Guide To The Perfect Autumn Sunday In Cornwall
Ah, autumn in Cornwall. There is nothing quite like it, is there? The summer crowds have cleared, the air has that crisp, refreshing bite, and the coastal views get a little more dramatic and stormy. If you are trying to figure out how to spend the weekend now it's not all about lazy beach days and BBQs, we have mapped out a perfect day of crisp walks, an awesome Sunday roast, some retail therapy at our lovely shop, and a hot chocolate finish.

The Morning Walk
First things first, you need to blow away the cobwebs with a proper Sunday walk to get the appetite going for that Sunday roast! We are busting out the hiking shoes and combining autumnal woodlands with dramatic coast path views.
- The Route: Start your morning at Tehidy Country Park (the largest wood in West Cornwall). Park up near the café, fuel up on coffee (see if you can resist the cakes!) and follow the leafy, golden path through the woods towards the coast. You can pop out by Basset Cove, where you can join the South West Coast Path heading towards Portreath.
- The Highlight: You can follow the coast path as far you you feel before those Yorkshire puddings start calling your name! Keep an eye out for seals far below the towering cliffs and over towards the far side of Portreath beach to see the Pepper Pot - the historic white daymark sitting just above Portreath beach. We always feel like it is welcoming you into the village!
- What to wear: It's definitely time to get those walking shoes out the cupboard! These paths can be a bit muddy and uneven so make sure you've got the footwear to handle it. We love these Grisport Lady Nomad's which tick all the boxes (£110).
A Proper Cornish Sunday Roast
All that sea air will definitely give you one one thing: a massive appetite! Head into Portreath as you've earned a classic Sunday roast.
- Where to go: We love the amazing yorkies at The Basset Arms on Tregea Hill.
- The Feast: You're in for a treat! Proper crispy roasties, fresh local veg and meat plus the all important proper gravy.
- The Atmosphere: Rustic, cosy and bringing all those coastal Sunday vibes you are looking for. Settle in, grab a pint and relax.

An Afternoon At Schoose

- Where to go: The Pod Cafe, Portreath.
- The Treat: Get snug with their beachside views and grab a steaming mug of hot chocolate. Not a hot choccy fan? We can recommend their dirty chai latte instead!
- The Vibe: Beachside chic with painted wood clapped walls, sink-into-me sofas and outdoor space for those sunny Sunday afternoons. Sit back, watch the wild autumn waves through the windows, and relax.
